Offset vs. Screen Printing

Offset vs. Screen Printing

The offset printing is a modern process widely used for large runs color printings. The resolutions are very good for the human normal visual acuity and the production prices are optimal. The same system is used for the printing lines of optical discs (CDs and DVDs).

Silkscreen printing is a classical image transfer procedure used on almost any kind of plain support (plastic, cloth, glass, leather, wood, etc.). The resolution of the printed image is lower, but the system is ideal for full image elements (vectorial) and can be used with up to 4 colors.

In conclusion, the offset printing is the optimal solution for poly-chromatic images, while the silkscreen is for images containing full elements.
